Print, laminate, contour-cut, install.
A narrated walkthrough of how we produce cast-vinyl vehicle decals — eco-solvent print, UV-clear laminate, contour cut on the plotter, transfer-taped, and squeegeed onto a door panel without bubbles or edge lift.
- 3M IJ180Cv3 cast vinyl, eco-solvent CMYK + Pantone
- UV-clear overlaminate, kiss-cut or contour-cut
- Bubble-free install with high-tack transfer tape
How it's built
Cast vinyl, eco-solvent print, UV laminate.
A vehicle decal is a multi-layer stack: cast vinyl film printed with eco-solvent ink, sealed under a UV-clear laminate, then cut to shape and applied with transfer tape. The cast vinyl conforms to mild vehicle curves and door edges without lifting — unlike cheaper calendered film, which shrinks back at the edges over time.
3M Ij180Cv3 cast
Conformable cast vinyl. Stays put on door edges and slight curves without lifting or silvering.
Eco-solvent Cmyk + spot
High-resolution print with outdoor-grade inks. Pantone-matched for brand-accurate color on fleet jobs.
3M 8520 matte or 8519 gloss
UV-clear overlaminate protects ink from fuel splash, car-wash chemicals, and stone chips.
Kiss-cut or contour-cut
Kiss-cut for shapes with a bleed, contour-cut for logos that follow the artwork edge exactly.
Colors & finishes
Two paths: cut vinyl or full-color print.
Cut vinyl is single-color-per-layer, great for simple logos and text. Digital print handles photos, gradients, and brand artwork with full CMYK accuracy. Most decal jobs use a combination.
Cut vinyl — 50+ Avery 950 stock colors
Single-color per layer. Stack layers for multi-color logos. Most popular standards below.
Digital print finishes
Full-color CMYK with laminate finish. Matte gives a factory-painted look; gloss pops in direct sun.
- Matte laminate (3M 8520) — subtle, professional, reduces glare and reflection
- Gloss laminate (3M 8519) — vivid, high-contrast, maximum visual impact
- Satin laminate (3M 1380M) — the middle ground, used on most fleet jobs
- Pantone match — specify any Pantone solid C/U for brand-accurate color
