Trimless Channel Letters.
No visible cap. No seam. Just a clean acrylic face that flows into precision-bent aluminum returns with a perfectly flush mitered edge. Trimless letters are the premium channel letter — the kind architects specify by name, and the kind guests photograph and post. Built for storefronts where every millimeter matters.
- Starts at: Custom quote (approx. 30% above front-lit)
- Best for: Premium retail, hotels, architecture-forward storefronts
- Warranty: 5-year LED, 3-year fabrication
How it's built
Precision acrylic face, mitered returns, no retainer cap visible.
Standard channel letters use a plastic trim cap to hold the acrylic face to the aluminum returns — that cap is visible as a thin colored edge around every letter. Trimless letters eliminate it. The acrylic face is machined to fit within an internal aluminum retainer lip — a hidden clip system that holds the face flush with the return edge. The result is a seamless face-to-return joint that reads as a single crisp edge. Precision CNC bending means mitered corners with no visible weld line.
1/4″ acrylic, edge-lit precision
Quarter-inch cast acrylic — thicker than standard front-lit — machined to exact letter shape. Edge-polished so no visible scratch lines at the letter perimeter.
.090″ aluminum, mitered corners
Precision-bent .090″ aluminum with CNC-mitered corners at every angle change. Thicker than standard returns, powder-coated to SW spec.
Internal aluminum lip — no visible cap
An internal machined aluminum lip holds the acrylic face from inside the letter shell. No external cap, no seam, no color interruption at the face edge.
Premium, dimmable, color-tuned
High-CRI premium LED modules. Dimmable standard. Color temperature selectable — 3000K warm, 4000K neutral, 5000K cool. Wired to a discrete remote power supply.
Colors & finishes
Standard palette plus custom Sherwin-Williams match — no trim cap to color.
Because there is no trim cap, color decisions are cleaner — just face and returns. Most trimless clients choose a monolithic treatment: matching face and return in the same Sherwin-Williams color, or a white face with a dark return for maximum contrast.
Face color — 5 standards + custom
White and Lexan White are most common. Colored acrylic faces require matching LED color and are custom-quoted.
Return color — 5 standards + custom
Precision-powder-coated aluminum. Standard colors at base price; any Sherwin-Williams match available. Matching face-to-return color is the most architectural treatment.
Sizes & pricing
Custom-quoted — precision fabrication commands a premium.
Trimless letters are custom-quoted because the precision CNC work, internal retainer machining, and thicker materials require individual job setup. As a benchmark, expect pricing approximately 30% above the equivalent front-lit set. Contact us with your letter height and character count for a firm quote.
| Spec | Standard | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Letter height | 6″ to 48″ | Most architectural installs run 12″–30″ where precision detailing reads best. |
| Return depth | 4″ standard, 5″ optional | Shallower than halo-lit — the face precision is the feature, not the depth. |
| Rate | Custom quote | Approximately 30% above equivalent front-lit. Request a quote for your exact spec. |
| Fabrication tier | Premium | CNC-bent returns, internal retainer machining, 3-year fabrication warranty vs. 2-year standard. |
Mounting
Stud mount only — depth and weight require it.
Trimless letters use .090″ aluminum returns and 1/4″ acrylic — they are heavier and more rigid than standard channel letters. Stud mount is the only approved method: threaded studs through the wall face, bolted with concealed hardware inside the wall. This also ensures the precise standoff required to hide wire entry cleanly.
Stud mount
Threaded studs extend from each letter, pass through the wall face, and bolt with hardware hidden inside the wall cavity. Required for the weight and rigidity of trimless construction.
Pattern drill template
A laser-cut drill template ships with every trimless order. Crew drills from the template to ensure precise standoff depth and stud spacing across the full word set.
Concealed wire entry
Wire runs are planned at quote stage so conduit entry points are hidden behind letters or in planned wall chases. No exposed conduit on trimless installs.
