How a Lobby Vinyl print, cut, and install actually happens.
A single narrated walkthrough covering both direct-mount logos and full-wall murals — printing on cast vinyl, weeding the cut, transfer-taping, and the wet-applied install that lets the crew reposition large panels before the final squeegee pass. Same video applies to vinyl murals.
- 3M IJ180Cv3 cast film, contour-cut or full-bleed printed
- Transfer-tape carrier, wet- or dry-applied
- Glass, drywall, painted walls, pastry cases
How it's built
Cast vinyl film, precision cut, hand-laid bubble-free.
The process starts with your artwork vectorized to clean paths. Cut vinyl is weeded to remove the background and leave only your mark; printed vinyl is output on a wide-format UV printer, then laminated. Both are applied to a high-tack transfer tape carrier that lets the installer position and press in one smooth pass. Large pieces are wet-applied with a soap-and-water solution to allow repositioning before final squeegee-down.
3M Ij180Cv3 cast or Avery Mpi 1105
Conformable cast vinyl — thinner than calendered film, holds edges without lifting. 2.0–2.5 mil face film with pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Eco-solvent or Uv-cured Cmyk
Full-color photographic output for printed vinyl. Cut vinyl uses the stock pigment color of the film — no printing required.
Kiss-cut, plotter-cut, or weeded contour
Kiss-cut leaves a full rectangle of film for easy application; contour-cut follows the exact outline of your mark for a frameless, painted-on look.
Transfer tape for install
Medium-tack application tape holds the weeded vinyl in position during transfer. Pulls away clean after squeegee-down, leaving no residue.
Colors & finishes
50+ stock cut colors or full-color digital print.
Single-color logos in a stock Avery 950 or 3M 1080 color cost less and install faster — no printing step. Multi-color or photographic logos use the full digital print workflow. Both options use the same 3M IJ180Cv3 base film for durability.
Cut vinyl — Avery 950 stock palette (50+ colors)
Cut vinyl uses the factory color of the film — no ink, no printer. Clean, solid, perfect for simple 1–2 color logos. A small selection of popular colors:
Digital print — full-color Cmyk
For logos with gradients, photography, or more than two colors. Printed and laminated; laminate choice affects the final sheen.
- Matte laminate — no glare, reads well in bright retail lighting
- Gloss laminate — vivid, high-contrast, punchy in darker spaces
- Clear (no laminate) — ultra-thin profile; indoor-only applications
- Pantone match — color-managed output, ±2 ΔE to brand spec
Sizes & pricing
Any size, any shape, from door-logo to full wall.
Pricing is per square foot of bounding-box area. Contour-cut complexity adds a small routing upcharge. Large walls are seamed at natural break points with a 1/8″ overlap.
| Spec | Standard | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Width range | 4″ to 96″ wide | Wider wall graphics are seamed. Seams are nearly invisible on matte prints when properly overlapped. |
| Shape | Any shape | Contour-cut follows the exact edge of your artwork. Rectangle is cheapest; complex curves add a small routing upcharge. |
| Cut vinyl rate | $4 / sq ft | Single-color stock films. Multi-color cut vinyl quoted per color layer. |
| Digital print rate | $8 / sq ft | Full-color CMYK + laminate. Includes artwork setup for standard logos. |
| Minimum order | $85 | A typical 18×18″ door logo runs $95–$145 installed. |
Application
Three application methods for different surfaces.
The vinyl itself doesn't change — the application method adapts to the surface and the size of the piece. Small logos are dry-applied in under ten minutes; large wall graphics are wet-applied with a soap solution to allow bubble-free repositioning.
Dry application
Small pieces under 18″ applied directly from transfer tape. Squeegee from center outward. Best for door logos, small glass graphics, and single-letter marks.
Wet application
Soap-and-water solution sprayed on the surface and the vinyl adhesive. Allows the piece to slide into position before final squeegee. Required for pieces over 24″ or on textured walls.
Glass second-surface
Vinyl applied to the inside face of a glass door or window, viewed from outside. Mirror-image print required. Protects the graphic from weather and touch damage.
